Cohncave Round Centrepiece in Red & Violet by Susan Cohn for Alessi

The red-violet Cohncave bowl convinces with its minimalist, pure appearance. It was designed by Susan Cohn for Alessi in 1992 as part of the Memory Container meta-project.
A fascinating play of light, also called the Moiré effect, is created by superimposing two lacquered metal nets held together by a stainless steel frame. The highly refined design idea was inspired by containers used for food storage. Because of its elegance and ongoing interplay with light, this everyday object has been transformed by Alessi into a mysterious piece that is impossible to ignore.

• Please clean the bowl with a soft, damp cloth and do not use abrasive cleaners. The bowl is not suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher and should not come into contact with water for a long period of time

Designer

Susan Cohn is an influential Australian silversmith and designer of small objects and jewels. She produces small series of her work directly in her small and yet efficient laboratory in Melbourne. Susan Cohn (born Sydney, 1952) is also an active lecturer in international design schools.
