ALESSI | Kettle Whistling Bird Black | Michel Graves

Black whistling bird kettle by Michael Graves for Alessi

Special 25th Anniversary Black Edition of the whimsical Whistling Bird Kettle, designed by the American star-architect Michael Graves in 1984. With a soft sound the bird-shaped whistle atop the spout lets you know when your water’s boiling. Michael Graves told the story that as a child in Indiana he used to wake up to the sound of boiling water while the rooster was crowing. This became his inspiration for the creation of this kettle. In recognition of its outstanding design the kettle is included in the collection of the MoMa New York. The kettle features a magnetic steel bottom making it also suitable for induction cooking. Over the years the whistling bird kettle became e.g. a very popular wedding present.
