The Design Gift Shop started out as an online shop with the goal to offer unique gifts and objects with a high design approach, the chosen products were often awarded with internationally recognised design awards and prizes. With our more minimalist gift range we want to be a counterweight against many mainstream gift shops. Our inspirations are more rooted in modern architecture and art, in minimalist interior design and pure industrial design, in long lasting clean design ideas as they were formulated at the Bauhaus or experimental new designs as they are taught at the AA in London or the RMIT in Melbourne.
Our carefully curated range of gift ideas for men and women are frequently sourced in Europe, e.g. we discovered our concrete wall clocks in a small manufacture in The Netherlands and some of our most cherished Christmas presents ideas, the timber objects from sidebyside are made in a sheltered workshop in Southern Germany. We love pure lines and therefore we picked for their minimalist philosophy the Dutch company Karlsson Clocks, homewares from menu Denmark or the simple doughnut speaker by Lexon Design from France. On the hunt for charming gift ideas for women we are happy to have discovered the French jewellery line Mon-Bijou and the genius handbag light from Soi of Germany.
